We are embarrassed to say we had a chance to make a connection with Frank Peretti and didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.
He was doing a book signing for “Monster,” at a Bible Book Store in Spokane, Washington. It must have been 2007. We forgot our camera at home, so had to buy a cheap throw away camera for the big moment.
Future co-owner of Bigfoot Eruption LLC, Kristen, had been on a binge of Frank Peretti books: This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness, the Oath, the Visitation; thus, we wanted to give her a signed copy of Monster, for her birthday.
The last customer had just walked away from Frank, as we approached. He was nice, and signed our copy of “Monster,” we took a picture, said goodbye, and walked away. Seriously we had to go, but should have made time.
He watched us walk away. He had a look of dismay, like, “No one is left to talk to me, and we could chat now for awhile, and you are leaving.” I know, this is bad. A regret.
Note: the town in This Present Darkness, Ashton, was depicted as being in northeast Washington just north of Spokane.
If we remember correctly, Monster, was also set in Washington. OK, Northern Idaho, which is a lot like northeast Washington.
September 2021:
As we write our Bigfoot Novel, without knowing it, touches on one key idea that Frank Shares in “Monster.” You see we never finished “Monster.” One reason is because we did not want to be influenced in our own writing of our Bigfoot story, however, Kristen Ness has shared enough about it, that manipulation is a likely factor in the Bigfoot phenomenon in Frank’s book and in real life. In our studies, we find, that Frank Perretti may have been on to something, and this would be reason enough, to talk to him again.
Were we vague enough? We try.
