Ultimately, what I was trying to illustrate with the Mormons was their COMPELLING description of the Holy Spirit. They describe it the same way as a typical Christian explains it, but even more convincingly.
How can this be? The Mormons are wrong about their doctrine, aren’t they? How can they describe and attest to the Holy Spirit but be completely wrong in their beliefs?
JW’s will describe the Holy Spirit in much the same ways as do the Mormons and Christians. However, their doctrine has a bunch of crazy shit in it too.
This “Holy Spirit like” feeling has been explained in much the same way by many people, in many cultures, in many religions, in many cults, and even in completely secular settings.
When people get this “feeling”, does that mean it’s the Holy Spirit? You don’t have to give me your answer. This is simply a question that I’ve come up with after looking at all this stuff for 5+ years.
A deeper question I ask myself: Was what I had always thought to be the Holy Spirit something else? Perhaps merely a feeling of human emotion.

So, check this out…
Yesterday, I watched another video where Mormon missionaries were being “confronted” about their beliefs. It was a video from the same guy that I sent you the other day. If you haven’t watched that video, that’s ok. If you deleted that video, with no intention of watching it, that’s ok too.
Interesting for me was how the video I sent you might have actually given me more “insight” than what I was trying to convey to you. Ultimately, it led me to the second video. In this second video, what I saw in those Mormon missionaries was a claim about Mormonism and the LDS church that is the same claim that I’ve been seeing among Christians all my life, which is “We hold the truth” and “We are right.” In this second video, those Mormon missionaries so strongly made a claim about the truth of the Book of Mormon…arguably stronger than anything I’ve seen from any other group of specific Christians make a claim about the Bible. Their conviction/testimony of the Holy Spirit and how they experience the Holy Spirit and how the Book of Mormon is proof of all their beliefs.
Shortly after waking up this morning, I stumbled upon a YT video where part of a church service was being secretly recorded at an LDS Temple. I had never seen an LDS church service before, not actual live footage anyway…I’ve seen still pictures here and there in years past.
So, I watched this secret footage of an LDS church service. They were performing some kind of ritual or something. I’ve seen some crazy shit before, but that 6-minute video might top anything I’ve ever seen in my life. It kind of reminded me of footage that I’ve seen of Marshall Applewhite giving a sermon to his Heaven’s Gate cult members. What I saw in this LDS service was actually far creepier.
Here’s what I’m trying to convey: How you, Pastor Rob, Ray Comfort, Jack Van Impe, Perry Stone, Billy Graham, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, my mom, my grandma, your mom, your dad, and even the old me, have declared about the truth of the Holy Spirit…the Mormons make the same declarations about the Holy Spirit. In my opinion, they often times make a stronger case.
Long story short, the Mormon’s claims about the Holy Spirt, and the truth about the Book of Mormon are the same, if not stronger, than a Protestant’s claim about the Holy Spirit and the Bible. So, which claim is true? The Mormon’s claim? Or the typical Protestant’s or Catholic’s claim? In all fairness, I can put everyone on the same playing field because what they each claim to be true about the Holy Spirit is the same across the board. How each faith witnesses about the Holy Spirit are the same.
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen an LDS church service, but what I saw in that secret footage this morning was beyond crazy. I could probably go back on YouTube and try to find it again and send it to you. I’d be curious what your reaction would be.
Are you familiar with the beliefs of the Mormons? I’m pretty familiar with their beliefs. In my opinion, they’re full of shit. I’m attaching an article showing comparisons and contrasts between Christians and Mormons, in case you’re not all that sure about the differences.
From here on out Rob, I suggest we try something new. Instead of me throwing stuff at you all time, in which you are often times compelled to defend your faith because of what I’m saying…let’s please just not do that anymore. With all my heart, I promise you that I’m sorry for any pain and distress that I may have caused. This was NEVER about me and you. The things I’ve said have had to do LARGELY to about the truth about the Bible, and whether or not it is the inerrant word of God, divinely inspired by God, and written by men as a true testimony of God’s actual words, thoughts, and character.
If you still feel compelled to defend your faith with me, please don’t make your case to me personally. However, feel freely to express your thoughts and your claims to me in whatever way that you want. From here on out, if you choose to speak to me about what your beliefs are, and what you claim to be true…please, just pretend that I’m a Mormon.
How you explain the Holy Spirit and how a Mormon explains the Holy Spirit, especially how the Holy Spirit “feels”…brother, it is 100% the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said, here lately, I’m actually seeing the Mormon’s make a much stronger case about the Holy Spirit and the Book of Mormon, then I have ever seen a Christian make about the Holy Spirit and the Bible.
I see no difference in how you might describe the Holy Spirit, or how I have thought that I’ve experienced the Holy Spirit, and how a Mormon describes their experiences with the Holy Spirit. Until yesterday, I didn’t realize that Mormons actually make a stronger case than Christians do. If they are making a stronger case, could they be right? Could they be the one and only true religion? From here on out, please make your claims to them and not me…but you can pretend that I’m a Mormon and you can run your case through me. That actually sounds kind of fun.
When I was a kid in Germany (3rd, 4th, & 5th grade), my best friend was a Mormon. I spent a lot of time at his base housing apartment. We lived in the same building. If my parents had ever seen footage of what goes on in a Mormon church, like what I saw this morning, I would have NEVER been allowed to go into his house, and maybe not even be his friend. Brother, my Mormon childhood friend and his family were some of the kindest people I’ve ever come across in my life.
In Montana, there was a young female SSgt who worked with Rosalie. In fact, Rose was her supervisor. Her name was Katrina Young. I’ve often wondered if she might have had distant relations to Brigham Young, you know one of the famous elders of the Mormon church. I never thought to ask her if she was or not. She was about 28ish and was still single. She was a DEVOUT Mormon. For years, she had been desperately looking for a Mormon husband. She was absolutely beautiful, both in looks, and in her spirit. You would have fallen in love with her. Even I sort of had those “crushing, in-love” feelings towards her. She was so wonderfully beautiful. A couple of times, we talked about her faith. She never overly pushed it on me, but she did it subtly. She gave me a copy of her holy book one day, the Book of Mormon, and I actually started reading it. That lasted for about 15 minutes, LOL.
What’s so interesting to me about Mormons is that they believe in Jesus in much of the same ways that Protestants and Catholics do, and they believe in the Bible. However, they believe in a bunch of other crazy shit too!!!!! For Mormons, the Bible is secondary to the Book of Mormon. Their testimony of the Holy Spirt is VERY strong. All this time, I guess I had never realized that about them.
If you feel compelled to keep defending your faith with me, like I said, just pretend that I’m now a Mormon. For what I’ve been trying to convey to you, I think I could pretend to be a pretty good Mormon and we can continue our discussions with you being a Calvary Christian and me being a Mormon missionary. This way, there will be no chance that anything is taken personally between you and me. It might be hard for me to defend that freaky shit I saw this morning, but I’ll try. I wonder though. I wonder what a Mormon would have thought if they had seen yesterday’s Calvary Corvallis Sunday service. That popped up in my YouTube feed this morning and I watched a little bit of it. I’m guessing it popped up because of the YT algorithm since I had watched a recent video from them. I wonder what any Mormon would have thought if they had seen Pastor Rob preaching about Jesus with shorts and flip flops on…LOL. I was digging it. That was some real Lonnie Frisbee shit right there. Seriously, y’all just need some weed and some longer hair dos and we’d be right back in the 70’s Jesus Movement. I’m serious man. I was digging it. Who would ever feel guilty about their sins at a church like that? A man could commit murder on Saturday night, go to Calvary Corvallis the next morning…and know 100% that he was going to heaven.
Peace,
Your Pretend Mormon Friend,
Brian
