How did this happen?

What does this mean?

We will systematically go through a series of steps of totally damaging your reputation. First your database will be leaked or sold to the highest bidder which they will use with whatever their intentions are. Next if there are e-mails found they will be e-mailed that their information has been sold or leaked and your site http://www.bigfooteruption.com was at fault thusly damaging your reputation and having angry customers/associates with whatever angry customers/associates do. Lastly any links that you have indexed in the search engines will be de-indexed based off of blackhat techniques that we used in the past to de-index our targets.

So a threat to pay, in a form of currency we know nothing about?

In the above menage the attacker gives a tutorial on how to buy the bitcoins; the payment of choice.

They have to remind us that “this is not a hoax” which we find suspicious.

In the final sentence they use the word “please.”

Are we being punked?

Destroy our reputation with Google? Like we are that high in Google’s eyes. It seems that-alone is a generic line. We have never based our success on what Google thinks of us. That can’t be our goal, because we have to focus on content and relationships. Doah!

Google may want to find this hacker because it is using them as leverage against us, which also seems like a trick; a line of bull. Makes Google seem weak, and they should help clean up this kind of attacker.
