The namesake is a dramatic water fall with park and trail. The falls plummet as it continues as Little Luckiamute Creek, which meanders eastward until it hits the Willamette River.

The north side of the park is a make-shift parking area that leads to the cliffs of the falls. Many seem to congregate there. It was unclear if swimmers would jump from high above. We would guess the creek below is not deep enough for that.

The other side of the creek, or river, was heavily shaded. You could not see the falls as well, but only because of the angle. It was still there but at this point you are upstream from it. People waded in the water, and cooled off their feet.

The trail was calling; maybe another day.

It would be nice would to donate picnic tables, a bathroom, and maybe place Bigfoot Statues along the trail. We can dream.

It turns out Falls city is a dead end, which makes us want to know more of the towns history.

So it was a logging community, back in the day. If you consider this, it is a perfect location for when logging was even bigger than it is today.

We drove back out the way we came, a mile and a half to the Kings Valley Highway Junction. We headed south, and found a couple historic covered bridges before we hit the Corvallis-Newport Highway (Highway 20). This junction all the way to highway 20 took less than 40 minutes.

We actually can’t find any information about the movie filmed in this area. It was a film shot mostly in California, and then filmed some scenes in Falls City. We learned of this from a news article given to us by either Ms. Henry, or Ms. Kampii, both of Oregon. Of if we could only find that newspaper article!

As we drove east back to the Kings Valley Highway and Headed south, we saw something that Oregon is well know for, historic covered bridges. One right before Kings Valley…
