April 2019, the Bigfoot Eruption team drove 12 miles on the 39 mile stretch from Oakridge to the Skookum Creek Campground, and it was absolutely amazing.

So, somewhere between Kiahanie Campground, and State Highway 126, is the Skookum Creek Campground. Fortunately Highway 126 (McKenzie Highway) will take you to Ike’s Pizza, and then onward to Springfield, Eugene, and the I-5 Highway.

Yes, all this, in just the first twelve miles, then we had to turn around.
“Land of Fallen Trees.” The extreme heavy rains of April 2019, caused the weight of trees to push over a shaky root system. It sounds awful, but created an amazing aftermath of nature, that should look even more spectacular as these fallen trees have time to integrate as a new contributor of the forest floor ecosystem.

We learned that this location has earned our full attention, on a trip just for this location.

There is a direct exit from Highway 58 to Westfir, and the covered bridge, at the west side of Oakridge before entering town. We meandered through the Oakridge “old town,”, and found Westfir by going the backside/north side of Oakridge.
