Gifford Pinchot National Forest – Ape Caves Interpretive Site

This next picture is very impressive. Look at all the bushes, trees, and the nearby road, directly above the cave entrance.

Now look at the contrast of the next photo, taken from the exact opposite perspective of the same location.

The interior was, as you see below. Much of the walk-through areas were too small for a large Bigfoot, but the cavernous room inside, would accommodate if one knew a way in.

The guide said that a boy scout group, called “Ape Troop” found the Caves, and thus the name. Of course, we were hoping the Caves were named after the famous Ape Canyon incident, which is in the same vicinity. Fortunately, the troop name matched.

The Ape Canyon Trailhead is just south of the Ape Caves.
