This picture shows that if you head west to leave town, you will meander through a scenic mountain highway (Grayback Road).

In an hour or so (38 miles), you can be back at the Redwood Highway (Highway 199).

At this point, you have the option then to go southwest for the Redwoods and Crescent City, California, or north to Cave Junction, Oregon, which then leads up to Grants Pass, Oregon and the I-5 Highway.

If you choose to go north from Happy Camp (passing the metal Bigfoot statue), the byway meanders over to Yreka, California, and the I-5 Highway.

If you go south, and you end up down the scenic Bigfoot Byway (Highway 96 – the Klamath River Highway). As you travel, you will pass the famous Bluff Creek, on your way to Willow Creek, a definite Bigfoot town.
