Skookum, defined: Chinook jargon for mountain giant (Wikipedia).
Look at the relation it has with Oakridge and Bend, Oregon.

From this viewpoint you will turn right at the covered bridge, head north for the scenic byway.
So, somewhere between Kiahanie Campground, and State Highway 126, is the Skookum Creek Campground. Fortunately Highway 126 (McKenzie Highway) will take you to Ike’s Pizza, and then onward to Springfield, Eugene, and the I-5 Highway.

“Land of Fallen Trees.” The extreme heavy rains of April 2019, caused the weight of trees to push over a shaky root system. Imagine 39 miles of this, to get to the Skookum Creek Campground.
We learned that this location has earned our full attention, on a trip just for this location.
